{Day 16} Fix Your Eyes on Jesus

When we find ourselves wrestling with, praying over and attempting to discern our {God Given} callings, it is far too easy to become distracted by the lingering questions, by those around us who already seem sure of their calling, by the proposition of our own success, by the need to plan for every possible contingency, by the sheer pursuit of the calling, by our own sin.

But by fixing our eyes on Jesus Christ – the One who calls, the One in whom our identity rests – the questions, doubts, and distractions seem to fade. Our path is made clearer. Our purpose is restored.

Ask questions. Seek hard. Pray unceasingly. Read Scipture day and night.

Fix your eyes on Jesus … the author and perfecter.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” – Hebrews 12:1-2 (NIV – emphasis added)
