{Day 13} In Quietness and In Trust

For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.”

– Isaiah 30:15 (ESV)

Returning to Christ, to His word and His promises, and following Him.

Resting in Him in the midst of uncertainty and unknown.

Quieting our souls in the hope and assurance of His presence.

Trusting in Him and His perfect plan.

As we return to Him, too often with hands firmly grasping our own ideas and plans for the future, as we desperately pray that we would have a willingness to release that false sense of control and rest in His plan instead of our own, He meets us there in our need and in our weakness. He softens our hearts, quiets our souls, loosens our grip, and restores our mind to a place of trust and confidence in Him alone.

Quiet Confidence.

{Day 28} Security

Although there may be times when we don’t understand our {God given} calling, there may be times when we question and doubt, and there may be times when we take a wrong step, our security isn’t found in nor does it depend on our calling.

Our security – our peace, our rest, our assurance – is found in the eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing, unchangeable One who calls. The One who knows the plans He has for us. The One whose purpose will always prevail. He is God alone. He is our very foundation. He is the everlasting rock.

“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.”

– Isaiah 26:3-4 (ESV)

{Day 23} Be Still

Tonight, on this Sunday, in the midst of a series in which we attempt to better understand our {God given} callings, though my post comes to you late, take a moment…

To forget about your calling.

To be still before the Lord with a settled heart and a quiet spirit.

To know with absolute assurance that He is God.

To trust in His sovereign goodness and graciousness.

“Be still, and know that I am God…”

– Psalm 46:10 (ESV)

Because it’s Monday…

Because there’s something about the simplicity of the above photo from the snow last week that makes me smile…

Because I have at least two more posts scheduled for this week (get excited!)…

Because I have officially completed Greek 1…

Because my heart and mind are full of thoughts that don’t yet make sense…

Because I needed to hear an encouraging word this morning, and maybe you do, too…

Because there’s nothing wrong with the familiar…

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors

through Him who loved us.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life,

neither angels nor demons,

neither the present nor the future,

nor any powers,

neither height nor depth,

nor anything else in all creation,

will be able to separate us

from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 8:37-39 (New International Version)

On this Monday, be convinced, be persuaded, be sure of God’s love and faithfulness!
